We all missed the movie Fridays. And now, with theaters opening, six major Bollywood films are all set to hit screens – Khaali Peeli, War, Kedarnath, Tanhaji, Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan, and Malang.
Other great films like Dil Bechara, Sadak 2, Shakuntala Devi, Khuda Haafiz, Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl, and Gulabo Sitabo which were broadcast on streaming platforms will not be shown in theaters.
PM Narendra Modi’s biopic, starring Vivek Oberoi, released last year, will also open in theaters on October 15.
However, despite all the precautions taken by theaters, the turnout was extremely low given the fear of the coronavirus pandemic.
The big production houses that were desperate for a theatrical release searched for OTT platforms. It certainly affected business in theaters.
Now Yash Raj Films, one of the main production houses in the country, is offering its film library to theaters this Diwali in an effort to attract audiences to theaters.
PVR, INOX and Cinepolis cinemas received YRF’s iconic library and the production house did not charge any fees.
YRF movies like Kabhie Kabhie, Silsila, Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, Dil To Pagal Hai, Veer-Zaara, Bunty Aur Babli, Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi, Ek Tha Tiger, Jab Tak Hai Jaan, Band Baaja Baarat, Sultan, Mardaani, Dum Laga Ke Haisha and more will be shown in theaters nationwide as part of YRF’s Big Screen Celebration initiative.
Customers can watch all movies for just Rs 50 each, reports DNA.
