Why Was Republic TV’s Arnab Goswami Arrested?

Even if you live in the most remote part of India, you’ve probably heard of it Republic TVArrest of editor-in-chief Arnab Goswami by Maharashtra police. It’s probably because that’s all of it Republic TV has been on the air for two days now and due to the amazing power of WhatsApp to bring videos, memes and fake news to the far corners of India.

But what was the reason Arnab Goswami was arrested? Architect Anvay Naik is said to have died by suicide in 2018 and named Goswami and two others in his suicide note.

“I don’t know why no action has been taken in this matter since 2018. I have lost my husband and my mother-in-law. My husband had written the names of three people in the suicide note. If he had had the money (which was due to him), he and his mother would have been alive today. He has been trapped in a vicious cycle and his fair royalty has not been paid to him, ”Naik’s widow Akshata Naik said, according to YOU. The newspaper also states that Naik strangled his mother before committing suicide.

More than ten years later Time now, Goswami presided over nightly debates that shouted matches, which he pushed, berated, and appeased his panelists on each evening. Whether you like it or not it has changed the face of Indian TV forever, from a distinguished BBC– like an avatar with the conflicting, argumentative and aggressive version he is now.

During his current reign at Republic TV, it has become even stronger and there are even more panelists. Not a favorite among Indian journalists, when Arnab Goswami was arrested many reported countless cases where scribes faced much worse. Take Gauri Lankesh, for example. The BJP strongly supported the Goswami with Smriti Irani and Amit Shah tweeting about freedom of the press.

In his suicide note, Naik said he had not received dues amounting to Rs 5.40 crore from Goswami and two others.
