Ahh, cancel culture, a favorite late-career weapon used by anyone with an internet connection. It has grown so big that renowned filmmaker David Fincher is making a miniseries of it.

Fincher sat down with The telegraph to discuss his new movie, future plans, and the new Cancellation Culture miniseries. “This is about how modern society measures apologies,” he said. “If you offer a truly sincere apology and no one believes it, have you even apologized at all?” It’s a troubling idea, but we live in troubled times. “

David Fincher recently sparked controversy after sharing his take on Todd Philips ” Joker, starring Oscar winner Joaquin Phoenix, calling it a “betrayal of the mentally ill”.

According to Fincher, Joker had no chance of success if it wasn’t for the success of The black Knight, who saw Heath Ledger playing the Joker.

“No one would have thought they’d fired a giant shot with Joker if ‘The Dark Knight hadn’t been as massive as he was,” said Fincher.

The filmmaker went on to suggest that the 2020 Joker was a mix of two main characters from Martin Scorsese’s films – Travis Bickle from Taxi driver and Rupert Pupkin from The king of comedy.

“I don’t think anybody would have looked at this material and thought, ‘Yeah, let’s take Travis Bickle (from Taxi driver) and Rupert Pupkin (from The king of comedy) and confuse them, then trap him in a betrayal of the mentally ill, and trot him for a billion dollars. “
