World-renowned filmmaker Satyajit Ray’s son Sandip Ray has announced that he will bring together two of the Maestro’s most iconic characters, Feluda and Professor Shanku in one film.

According to media reports, both parts of the film will hit screens next year to mark Ray’s 100th birthday.

“There will be two different stories, which I haven’t decided yet. With the total length of the movie in mind, I’ll be picking out some hugely popular short stories, ”Ray told PTI.

Sandip Ray had brought Professor Shanku to the big screen for the first time in Professor Shanku O El Dorado and had also directed numerous films featuring Satyajit Ray’s hugely popular creation, Feluda.

“To this day, I have created Feluda and Shanku as different content. But bringing them together in one movie will be a challenge. I hope this will remain engraved in the memories of the public for a long time, ”he added.

“Aside from making films, Baba has become a successful writer in Bengali. His short stories, especially the Feluda detective story series, became instant bestsellers. His science fiction stories were also very popular. He didn’t read me bedtime stories when I was a kid, but he read a lot himself. It would be hard to identify a particular detective character he admired, but yes, Sherlock Holmes and Agatha Christie’s Poirot were his all-time favorites despite having read pulp, ”Sandip Ray said. MW earlier.

“Maybe because I was the only child he wanted me to follow in his footsteps. So he got me involved in all aspects of cinema. Surprisingly, when I made my own movie, he didn’t interfere until I showed him the rough cut. He was a man who wanted to do everything; he even activated the camera! After his heart attack, he was asked to slow down. He had to. The operation of the camera is painful. So he left that to me, ”he added.
