Netflix has confirmed that it will release a live-action series from the famous game franchise Assassin’s Creed. But, is it such a good idea? We are skeptical.

Here’s why:

Netflix might be too confident

The witcher was possibly the only successful game adaptation that appealed to fans and critics alike. You could even add Castlevania to this list. So it’s only natural for Netflix to take that momentum and adapt other popular games. But, Assassin’s Creed (AC) can be an extremely tricky game, thanks to its storyline and characters. Netflix is also adapting Resident Evil, about which we are also skeptical, but not as much as AC.

The casting should be given the utmost importance here. AC fans have had issues with voice actors before that didn’t do a good job (* cough * Odyssey * cough *). We still don’t have any news on the cast, but we really hope Netflix picks the right actors who can portray an iconic Assassin on screen.

Choose the right scenario

If you have played all AC games, you understand how complicated and confusing it all can get. And let’s be real, the flow AC the games have terrible storylines which are just lazy and unsatisfying. If Netflix plans to adopt an already strong gaming storyline, like Black flag, or even Unit, we will be interested.

We saw what happened with the Assassin’s Creed movie

Remember 2016 Assassin’s Creed film with Michael Fassbender? We understand that you tried to suppress that memory, because this movie was unbearably excruciating. And some of us were actually optimistic about it. We’ve been hurt before, so we’re just afraid we’ll be hurt again.

First, let’s fix the Assassin’s Creed games

This post is not for Netflix, but for Ubisoft. Instead of running to the bank with your Netflix money, maybe spend some time giving equal importance to the AC Games. You know, the people who really helped make Ubisoft what it is today? Odyssey, origins, and the new Valhalla games are so forgettable, and are far from AC the games we love. So Ubisoft, fix the games first.
